hi every body,

am a Computer Science student designing a meta search project

and i was wondering if any one has an idea about what technique do meta search engines use to decide rank of different ranked documents arriving from different SE's

(Am using google and yahoo web services to supply my meta SE with search results)

any help will be highly appreciated,

The age old "Whats the Algo?" question....

Well a good start would be here:

You can use this to build your scoring method.

Then the fun begins... Count up how many times a perticular link is found on other sites.

Now build in relevance... build in the ranking of the OTHER sites then create priority based on that.

Then you need to start scanning content of the site and weigh this againist your findiings.

I would also cache this information because to have this procedure call everytime someone searches or checks status of a site it will hammer the server so you run this procedure say once every 10 days out of the primtime time slots.

And have people hit the cache and other porgrams/searches hit the cache.
