It ranked on top 10 before it plummeted to 30. Then my ranking improved and dropped down again. It is not even like I have made some onsite changes that could have led to this fluctuation. I have just worked on link building. Please help me.

If Google senses too much link building too fast it sees it as unnatural and can penalise you for it. Make sure your link building is gradual and steady. Also make sure your links are relevant!
