Traffic Scams & Warnings
What is a Traffic Scam?
A traffic scam is designed to give a false sense that you can spend any
amount of money and you will magically begin to get high quality
traffic. This cannot be any further from the truth. These scams are
designed to bring you fake hits, popup, popunder and proxy based
traffic. The worst quality you can imagine and none will ever yield a
sale. Below you will see a list of the above items and what they
actually are.
Popups These are ads that rudely popup into a surfers face when
they are browsing or surfing the web. These were widely used in the
90's and now have been ported into rollover or flying ads that again
are very intrusive to a surfer.
Popunders These types of ads are a bit more sneakier as they do
not appear until all browsers are closed and there is an advertisement
sitting on your desktop, again very intrusive.
Fake hit machines Yes, these exist and most of these traffic
scams use them in a massive way. They setup scripts to change the
referrer of a faked hit to make it appear like it is real and coming
from somewhere.
Proxy hits This is by far the dirtiest tactic of them all.
Server proxy lists are put together, shared and sometimes even sold to
other people to use as a mask to hide themselves while they spam, spoof
hits or possibly even worse like sending a virus from an internet cafe.
How to spot one? Spotting out these hits is really not
that difficult at all. Your average visitor will stay at the page for
sometime before closing it. So have a look at your logs and see how
long these guys stay. Take your average user and weigh that against
some of the more suspicious ones. Keep in mind that bots such as Google
or Yahoo Slurp will identify themselves very clearly in your logs and
might have a short visit period. The unique visitor that stays 2
seconds and seems to stay only 2 seconds visit after visit is most
likely a "fake" hit.
These companies even use these fake hits to boost PR and Alexa
ranking. So don't judge these guys because they have a high ranking. It
is very hard to find a really traffic provider that is not scamming to
some degree.
If everyone is a scam then what is the solution? Well not
everyone is a scam but most of the "cheap hits" programs are. So we
advise you stay away from all of them and just build the traffic
yourself. Search engine traffic has proven time and time again to be
the highest quality of traffic to a website. It is completely targeted
to your audience because the user was searching for you.
The answer to building your traffic is quite simple - content
is king. The idea is to build as much content as possible so that the
search engines will come around spider then index your pages. Relative
content will yield the results you seek. For example if you put
together articles related to your "widget" and keywords appear in your
article about these "wdigets" and what they do then there is a greater
chance when some one searches for "super widget" that they will find
your site.
There is a lot of calculation in a search engine algorithm but
it has been proven that the one thing that remains the same is content
out weighs all other factors.
How to I build effective pages?
We have designed our software Maximum Traffic
with search engines algorithms as the primary goal. We allow you to
build your pages quickly and effectively to get you the highest
possible rankings in the search engines. Our 15 day trial version will
even yield results in that short of a time.
Using the software once might work but to be successful for
the long-term effect you need to build build build and then build some
more.
Who are the scammers? We cannot name the names of the
site for legal reasons but we can say most of them are the same site
moving from domain name to domain name because of getting a bad
reputation. These sites saturate the market and then move the domain to
a new one and claim that they are the new kid on the block with the
best traffic. Don't get duped by these guys, do a Whois on the domain,
call the company up, find a physical address and call these guys out.
Do not let them take your hard earned money and give you nothing in
return.
Conclusion We hope that this article has shed some light
on this internet craze. The thing to remember is that search engine
optimization takes time and most of all patience. Lack of patience will
just have you spending money in the wrong places. We have developed a
line of products for people to use that will get them results - end of
story. We are in this long term and will be around for many more years
to come.
Creating a successful product allows us to never have to worry about
customer satisfaction or having to pickup and move our shop because of
a bad reputation. We feel that if we are upfront and honest with each
and every person then in the long run they will understand that we are
all in this together. We all should be helping each other have
successful web sites and no trying to steal each others profits.
Put yourself in the surfer's shoes for a moment. Would you
open any of those intrusive ads? So then why would anyone want to open
yours or furthermore want to use your service by finding it in a popup
or popunder ad?
Good luck and God bless.

Though I felt well protected, I have spent a good part of a day getting rid of a browser hijack script. I'm exactly not sure where I got it but it was very persistent. If I had the owner of the advertising company responsible in front of me right now, I would probably beat him/her/it to the point where he/she/it would beg for death.
OK rant over! Now I am proposing and idea for all of us that hate the terrible tactics of "so called" online advertisers who employ such tactics as endless pop-ups, browser helper objects, spyware and such.
I plan to generate a site dedicated to combating these people. I want to make their use of the internet absolutely painful as long as they use the methods described above. Here are a few things I am thinking of:
- A blacklist of confirmed adware and malware users
- A list of confirmed "good guys" who only use reputable advertising tactics
- A method of reporting malicious advertisers
- A method of reporting reputable advertisers
- A repository of tools people can use to protect themselves
Any confirmed malicious advertiser would be reported to their isp in a manner that would serve to compel the isp to "pull the plug". This report would contain the total number of complaints received and the reason for the complaints as well as the verification method used to validate the complaints. A detailed "whois" would be performed and verified. Also, to prevent some innocent site owner from getting blamed, the complaint would be verified.
The list of malicious advertiser list would be available in several text formats for easy inclusion in browser and firewall "restricted sites" areas. This is so that the "everyday" user can just copy and paste as needed.
The idea here is to remove resources from these malicious advertisers through legal means. Enough information will be available to users of the site that they can individually submit complaints. It is a similar concept to "artists against 415" which targets the "nigerian bank" scams.
If this is something you would be interested in please send me a message.
Thanks for reading this, Alan

These scammers send several emails and make us mad of it. Reporting
these as a spam doesn't help. After 2-3 days it is still coming again.

I stupidly just bought traffic from advertyz.com. It was only after I bought
and paid for the traffic did I discover that [email protected] is a bad e-
mail address and their CONTACT US page is under construction. Wish I
would have come here first.

I don't know about any other site, but this one works for me. I even signed up for their affiliate program. Check it out below...
How Much Is Your Website Worth? $1,000 A Day? $10,000 A Day?
You might be asking yourself -- What does "quality, targeted traffic" mean?
The #1 Thing to Remember is: ALL TRAFFIC IS NOT CREATED EQUAL.
Some shady brokers will sell you traffic that comes from bots or from spam harvesters, or they'll show 15-20 popups to the same person and count that as 15-20 customers. That's the worst of the worst.
Paid search engine traffic (Google Adwords) can be good traffic, but it's expensive and you'll get killed if you don't know exactly what you're doing.
Better Visitors traffic is premium quality. It consists of real people, targeted to products like yours, from 170 PRODUCT CATEGORIES. Income Opportunities, Health and Diet, Web Design, Skateboards, Coffee and Tea, Astronomy -- you name it!
The traffic we send to you is 100% Campaign Unique - each visitor is unique for your whole campaign -- we NEVER send you duplicate visitors.
And the best thing is, it's EASY. All you have to do is accurately identify your business from our extensive list of categories, and you'll within 24 hours have hundreds of unique visitors.
HERE'S HOW IT WORKS: Twice a day we scour the Internet for domain names that are abandoned or about to be. The people who built them did all the marketing, the search engine optimization, the whole nine yards, and now (for whatever reason) they've decided not to continue. We found a way to tell which ones have steady traffic associated with them - these are the domain names with web sites in our targeted categories (it's easy, you just look at the old website). Then we take visitors from the appropriate category and send them to you.
That's it! I told you it was easy. By this time we have a huge portfolio of domain names regularly generating tons of traffic.
When you place an order with us, one of our technicians will visit your website and use their magic to figure out what categories of traffic you should receive. Even though you specify the category, we'll refine it even more so that you get BETTER VISITORS.
Our promise is simple: if we don't deliver what we promise, we'll give you a full refund. Period.
Leave the visitors to us and concentrate on selling.

I agree that there are several gimmicks out there, but there are some programs out there that you can learn how to get your message out relatively inexpensively. There are also training courses that you can purchase to help you out with that. There is a reason that seasoned internet marketers are a diamond in the rough. I encourage you to do your research and find out how you can utilize their techniques.

I knew i would have to try it at least once with some1. Suppose you guys will say it is a waste of money. I got caught out once when I opened a email that had a Trojan attached to it and god knows what else. My computer was trashed and I had to buy a new one. I now never open an email or download software or anything else for that matter unless I know the source. All scammers should be taken out and shot, sorry that would be too good for them, they should be slowly tortured to death.

I have to agree with the original poster that ultimately, search engine traffic is the most valuable, targeted traffic you can get.
I was surprised to see auto-surf traffic exchanges were not on the list of traffic sites to avoid. Absolute crap and usually infested with malware and viruses (or is it virii? I never know)
I have a refined hatred for auto-surf programs as they're often confused with manual traffic-exchanges which are my bread and butter and ultimately how I put food on the table.

I usually don't use this kind of traffic as they are temporary and might affect your site's value. So better work on real traffic instead.

Yes scam advertising programs run rampant. Anyone can create a domain and tell others they have a trillion members. You know... it's the 'One click and your ad is sent' BS. Webmaster is right... create your own traffic - quality over quantity anytime.

I believe I may have found a pretty good advertising program. It's a new technology that came out a month ago. It's a combined advertising strategy all in one called webtrafficjuggernaut. But as with all advertising programs, it will lose it's strangel hold in a year or 3, maybe 4. But for now, I found it to be the best. Well, so far anyway.

There are many services out there claiming that they can get you
thousands and thousands, even millions of visitors to your site. Most
of these services are really proficient in making the hit-counter go
crazy, but unfortunately, these guaranteed traffic sites are scams.
